The Manager – Treasury will manage and ensure effective functioning of ALM/ FX & Commodities/ Derivatives and Money Markets, Fixed Income activities & treasury sales activities pertaining to the Kuwait Branch, in line with the internal policies and regulatory guidelines. The incumbent will ensure prompt provision of FX and commodities/ Money Markets & Fixed Income / Derivatives solutions to customers within the approved limits and will supervise the execution of transactions and placement deals. The Job holder will work closely with Department Head – Treasury HO in managing interest-rate risk and liquidity risk, and, the Balance Sheet with respect to Liquidity/Funding, Interest Rate, relevant regulatory Ratios and Foreign Exchange Risk.
Detailed Roles and Responsibilities:
Contribute towards the design and development of strategies to manage the Kuwait Branch’s interest rate/Liquidity exposure and related effects, in line with ALCO guidelines.
Work closely with the Department Head – Treasury HO in the design, development and implementation of ALM, FX & Commodities Money Market, Fixed Income, Treasury sales and Derivatives strategies/ KPIs, in consistent with the overall Functional objectives/ T&I framework.
Update self on the regulatory requirements/changes set by the Central Bank and other relevant government bodies, and, suggest adequate changes to the Department Head – Treasury, Update the policy & procedures, including but not limited to staffing of employees, deliverables etc.
Formulate, and ensure that the section’s deliverables are within agreed SLAs. Oversee and ensure that timely, accurate and complete analysis/ reports are provided in a timely manner to the respective internal stakeholders.
Ensure effective administration of asset liability management process and related procedures within different operational regimes.
Manage the funding and liquidity position, through proper allocation of funds.
Support the Department Head – Treasury HO in efficient management of the asset/liability profile with a focus to reduce funding cost. Capitalize on arbitrage opportunities available in the market to reduce costs, in line with approvals.
Manage proper identification, measurement and reporting of Bank’s financial positions and short term and long term risk exposures, and, recommend on limits for interest rate, liquidity and market risks exposures.
Work closely with the Department Head – Treasury HO in maintaining a liquidity limit infrastructure that is aligned to strong compliance with domestic and internal regulation thereby supporting/enhancing Credit Ratings.
Manage continual analysis of the balance sheet, and recommend on strategic hedges to Kuwait/HO ALCO team to protect and enhance the NIM and overall financial performance pertaining to the Kuwait Branch.
Define the basic market risk characteristics of all non-fixed rate products to ensure risk and client profitability is correctly captured.
Manage the formulation of annual budgets and deal targets and perform monitoring / reporting of expenditures against approved budgets to the respective stakeholders.
Share timely and competitive foreign exchange pricing for the Treasury Sales unit and other internal stakeholders, as applicable, after checking the availability of credit lines for the counterparty, as per the authority delegated.
Review and manage gap positions, and ensure FX positions are within internal as well as Central Bank guidelines..
Monitor and analyze the market, enabling to trade profitable positions and provide recommendations to the Department Head – Treasury HO of possible opportunities in the market.
Ensure accurate reporting of P&L figures of FX and Commodities/ derivatives/ Money market and Fixed Income trading activities and outstanding positions to Department Head – Treasury on a periodic basis.
Review to ensure prompt input of the FX and interest rates in the core banking system, in line with the variations in market conditions, and notifying the corresponding branches on the same.
Cover the major Asian, GCC and all other major nostro accounts at profitable rates in relation to FX sales executed through the various internal departments.
Share quotes for Interbank FX spot, forward and swaps, as required by the corresponding banks to cover the fund requirement, in line with the risk and credit policies, and in coordination with the HO Treasury department.
Perform regular and/or periodic monitoring of FX and Commodities/ derivatives/ Money market and Fixed Income deal /trades conducted through different platforms and cost-benefit analysis of pre and post deal transactions, furthering to achieve profitability/ P&L targets.
Monitor to ensure that all treasury transactions are fed in the bank’s system in line with the approved procedures, and ensure that deal tickets and approvals are complete and accurate. Ensure adequate documentation with respect to each deal executed.
Provide periodical cash flow forecasts for the major currencies including interbank and customer lending and borrowings in support for Assets and Liabilities management (ALM) Team. Partner with external Banks on account of inter-bank Treasury agreements and with respect to the approval processes, in line with Bank policies, and as directed by the Department Head – Treasury.
Support in the internal reviews in the area of Risk management, financial ratios, accounting entry verifications, cash flow management and P/L record checking with finance risk management, Treasury settlements, Finance, Financial reporting to regulators unit etc.
Share quotes for customer deposits, FX transactions as required by clients, in line with the risk and policies, and in coordination with the HO Treasury department.
Attending on behalf Kuwait treasury, Treasurers Meetings held by banking association, Central bank Kuwait treasures meetings, etc.
Monitoring & supporting Treasury sales staff of Kuwait branch, to attain the overall T&I objectives.
University graduate with a degree in Business or Banking or Finance or Economics or any other related discipline.
Master’s degree in Management any other related discipline will be an added advantage.
10-15 years of total experience in financial services/banking industry, entailing responsibilities pertaining to the specific area of discipline.
Experience in ALM/ FX and commodities/ Money Market, and Fixed Income / derivative trading and Treasury Sales activities on a supervisory role.
CFA or CA, CMA, ACA, CPA or equivalent qualification would be desirable
