Would you like to contribute to the activities of a non-profit scientific & medical association?
We seek an Office Manager to work as part of a small team responsible for the administration and operation of the European Atherosclerosis Society’s educational, publishing, outreach and digital programmes.
About the EAS
The European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) has its administrative office in Gothenburg and started as a Europe focused society but now has a global reach. EAS members are doctors and scientists; the Society provides a dynamic forum for scientists conducting research into the causes of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), and a platform to provide education to doctors treating individuals at high risk of heart attack, due to a range of cholesterol disorders.
The Society publishes scientific papers and guidelines written by groups of our expert members. We hold an annual conference in a different city in Europe each year (ca. 2,200 participants). We organise in person and online courses and training for our members throughout the world. We have an online educational platform and our own Scientific peer reviewed Journal. We have topic-based communities of scientists within our society, and even run one of these as a separate society. We have ca. 1,800 individual members and growing, as well as extensive links with other societies at a national level. We receive support from sponsors within the pharmaceutical and the healthcare industry.
The Society’ leadership & Committee members are world-leading scientists and physicians, working for EAS in their own time. Their passion—for improving healthcare through new scientific research and educating scientists, clinicians and healthcare workers—is the drive behind all the activities that the Society organises.
The Administrative Office supports the Society in furthering scientific exchange & disseminating knowledge in the field of atherosclerosis through an environment which provides effective, innovative & structured administration and services. Currently this consists of a small, dedicated team (five staff), working as a “flat” organisation, where each member has their main area of responsibility, but cross-cover and back-up colleagues as needed.
You will be responsible for the oversight and smooth running of the Office processes, and have managerial responsibility for the HR matters related to Office. You will be expected to provide a strategic overall role, while supporting the Office at an operational level for general HR matters, including recruitment, negotiations, organisational issues, work environment, skills development and succession planning.
We are looking for a person with a degree in HR or equivalent, with several years of experience of working as an office manager or HR manager. Knowledge and/or experience of labour law is expected.
You will contribute to improving the results achieved by the team by driving efficiency improvements for office processes, optimisation of resource use and addressing gaps in skills and resources within the team. You will ensure data handling for all office processes is GDPR compliant.
We attach great importance to your personality. We are looking for a responsible and responsive person with a positive outlook, who thrives in a dynamic environment, is creative and flexible in their approach to problem solving, and with an aptitude for relationship building.
